Stutter
◘Explanations
*FPS clamp = Method to reduce or eliminate game stutter. + Upside = No stutter and smooth gameplay - Downside = If your FPS goes down more that the set value the game engine will "slow time" to avoid stutter *Stutter = A known element in Bethesda game engines. If your hardware (both CPU and GPU) aren't strong or modern enough your image/gameworld will seem to pause for a few seconds, usually in this time the engine will try to load the said assets (textures) or NPC's.Depending on your system this can never happen, once every 10 minutes, once every few seconds. |
|
As you can see where this going this can get SUPER frustrating, hence the FPS clamp.
•FPS limit recommended in antilag.cfg = your average FPS •FPS clamp recommended in iFPSClamp=your average FPS -2 or -5 *If you prefer stutter vs "slow down" remove the line completely *Only use these setting if you experience stutter *If you have a normal HDD remember to defragment it from time to time |
◘ Instructions
-Open skyrim.ini (found in X:\Skyrim\profiles\RottenDub) -Add this line anywhere in the [General] section iFPSClamp=45 (eg FPS clamp should be what your average FPS is) *Note in order for FPS limit to work in antilag.cfg thes lines have to be present in enblocal.ini InitProxyFunctions=true ProxyLibrary=d3d9AL.dll |
ENB Perfomance Guide
Requested ENB guide.
If your PC can't handle the pack + ENB don't fret and don't disable it you can squeeze out some performance still.
•Opening enblocal.ini and setting UseDefferedRendering=false will disable some eye-candy(like AO,subsurface scattering etc)
and the heavy hitters of ENB giving massive FPS boost and still keep some of the good stuff like Bloom,Adaptation and DOF
◘In some cases setting DefferedRendering to false is enough to boost performance but if not :
•Once in-game press the console button(tilde or ` near the 1 button)
•The press Left Shift+Enter
•Disable as many ENB features as you want but leave bloom and water ON
•Press the + sign on each of the options in the left hand of the screen and set everything to low or very low
•After you are done go up again and press >>> SAVE >>> APPLY
•The pack should run smoother now if your PC can't handle ENB properly

1440p Resolution
Some of us(not me) have beast PC and want to kick things up a notch.
While most of us will stay at 1080p some want to push it further so I've made a little guide to help you guys out.
In the future I'll post the files here for easy access/replacement but for now manual is the way to config it.
It should take 5 minutes to make all these changes and play.
•Set the FPS limit to 60. (in antilag.cfg)
•Make sure to set V-sync on TESV.exe from NVIDIA CP.
*HDT systems and Skyrim in general is designed to run at 60 FPS.
•Change to desired resolution (in skyrim prefs)
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920
•Open effect.txt find and change these lines to desired resolutions :
// Set your resolution here
float XCoord <
string UIName="Horizontal Pixel Resolution";
string UIWidget="Spinner";

AMD Performance Guide
AMD's software is quite lacking in terms of customizability, but we can make it work.
◘The first step is to run your AMD software. This can be done by looking up "AMD settings" in the Windows 10 search box. The direct file path is C:\Program Files\AMD\CNext\CNext\RadeonSettings.exe.
•Once you've run the program, click on the "Updates" tab at the very bottom left of the window. Tick the "Check for Updates" box. If it lets you know that an update is available, update it. If not, you're good to go.
•Next, click "Gaming" at the top left. At the top right, click "Add". Enter the file path X:\Skyrim\TESV.exe. You'll see "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" with the Skyrim logo as a new program. Click on it.
•The following are the settings that I use. They are stable. Based on your system and your preferences, you can change some at your own risk.
Anti-Aliasing Mode --- Use applications settings
Anti-Aliasing Method --- Multisampling
Morphological Filtering --- Off
Anisotropic Filtering Mode --- Override application settings
Anisotropic Filtering Level --- 16x (This can be lowered if you don't have the best card.)
Texture Filtering Quality --- Standard
Surface Format Optimization --- Off
Wait for Vertical Refresh (V-Sync) --- Always on
OpenGL Triple Buffering --- Off
Shader Cache --- AMD optimized
Tessellation Mode --- Override application settings
Maximum Tessellation Level --- 4x (This can be increased to 6x or 8x on better cards)
-You may now close the application.
Open X:\Skyrim\enblocal.ini
Scroll down and find the [MEMORY] section. Change VideoMemorySizeMb=#### to your exact number of megabytes of video memory. Your card was likely advertised as having a certain number of gigabytes of memory (For example, "R9 380 4GB" or "R9 390 8GB").
I would not recommend playing SPM with 2GB or less of VRAM, and certainly not 1GB or less.
Below is a guide to how many megabytes you have based on how many gigabytes you have.
1GB --- VideoMemorySizeMb=1024
2GB --- VideoMemorySizeMb=2048
3.5GB --- VideoMemorySizeMb=3584
4GB --- VideoMemorySizeMb=4096
8GB --- VideoMemorySizeMb=8192
◘Here's the tricky part.
•There are three settings in the [MEMORY] section of enblocal.ini that will improve or damage your performance drastically based on how they're set. These settings are:
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true or false
DisableDriverMemoryManager=true or false
DisablePreloadToVRAM=true or false
To get the best performance out of SPM, you'll have to test each variation of these three settings, meaning you'll have to attempt to run Skyrim (which you do by running X:\Skyrim\ModOrganizer.exe and choosing SKSE in the drop down menu at the top right, then clicking run) with them all on true, them all on false, and everything in between until you get a game that is stable and gives you the best performance.
After you've found the best combination of the three, you may close out of enblocal.ini.
Run X:\Skyrim\ModOrganizer.exe
Tick the "Depth-of-Field" box at the bottom right if you have a somewhat good card
Tick all three "threaded" boxes if you have a multicore CPU.
•Click "Models/World"
-Change the Object/Actor/Item Fade based on your card's strength
Decrease or increase "Grids" to 3 or 7 if you're experienced and you know the risks.
Tick all three "threaded Meshes/Morpher/LODs" boxes if you have a multicore CPU.
•Click "Trees"
-Tick the "use Threading" box if you have a multicore CPU.
•Click "Grass"
-Increase Grass Density if your card is below average. Decrease it if your card is above average. (Less is more for this setting). It shouldn't go below 50 until you know your card can handle the extra rendering. It shouldn't go above 90 until you know your card can't handle 90. 70 is a happy medium, and is best for most cards.
•Click "Lighting"
Set Shadow Resolution to 4096 if your card is excellent. Set it to 1024 if it's not very good. Otherwise, set it to 2048.
•Click "Water"
Set Reflection Resolution to 2048 if your card is excellent. Set it to 512 if it's not very good (or untick the box "Draw Reflection" if you don't want to render reflections at all). Otherwise, set it to 1024.
•You may now close the Skyrim config.
Find the left pane in Mod Organizer. It should have a list of many many mods, and is basically half of the screen.
•Do not untick any mods that do not start with "Optional".
•Disable [Optional Texture]Gildergreen 4K Parallax. Doing so boosted me from 30 FPS in cities/ 40 FPS Outdoors/ 55 FPS Indoors to 50/55/60.
•If your system is quite good, I recommend enabling "[Optional Alternative 2k Plants 1] RM" and "[Optional Alternative 2k Plants 1] RM", or even [Optional Alternative 4k Plants 1] RM" and "[Optional Alternative 4k Plants 1] RM" if your system is excellent.
•Most other optional mods are retextures, which means disabling them will give you some other texture that isn't as HD. This is recommended for people with bad systems, as it'll decrease the load on your graphics card.
•If you're getting bad performance outside, you can disable [Optional Recommended]Verdant 2.2, which will mean you'll have the vanilla grass and will gain 10-15 FPS.
•If you're getting bad performance in cities, you can disable [Optional Male Body](4K2K HIGH) and/or [Optional CBBE Body](4K2K HIGH), which will mean you'll have the vanilla NPC bodies and will gain some performance as well.
•If you have a seriously bad system (such as a laptop or old/ inexpensive PC) but you're hell-bent on running SPM, I'll soon be uploading a tutorial on getting the absolute highest performance you can possibly get in SPM, so look out for that!
Cheers everybody! Feel free to ask any questions if you'd like.
